Omeprazole belongs to the family of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which is used in the treatment of excessive acid being produced in the stomach, it is commonly prescribed for the treatment of GORD (gastro oesophageal disease) and stomach ulcers.
Adults should take one 20mg capsule with water, preferably first thing in the morning for four weeks. If you are prescribed to take Omeprazole twice a day, it is recommended to take 1 dose in the morning, and 1 dose in the evening.
It is important not to chew the capsule because it will not work properly otherwise.
Omeprazole is a prescription medication which is available in different strengths: 10mg, 20mg, 40mg.
