Levonelle is an emergency contraceptive medication, to be taken within 72hours (3days) of unprotected sex or if contraceptive method has failed.
One tablet should be taken orally no later then 72 hours.
Levonelle should be taken as soon as possible following unprotected sex to maximise its effectiveness.
if you vomit or have diarrhoea within 2 hours of taking levonorgestrel pill it may not have been absorbed properly by the gut which can compromise its efficacy, and a replacement dose should be taken.
Levonorgestrel can cause some side effects such as headache, nausea, fatigue, lower abdominal pain, irregular bleeding until your next period.
